Are These our Best Options?

Women are better educated and more financially independent than ever before. Yesterday I talked about how in China this is leaving a bunch of women single, even with the huge surplus of men there. In the West, people still get together, but cohabitation, short term relationships, and out-of-wedlock births are on the rise.

Which is worse?

And are there other options? Must we choose one of the following: a) uneducated and dependent women, b) lots of single men and women, or c) promiscuity and illegitimacy?
